The system bias is to use the least amount of hits to produce the part program. Shape recognition plays an important role in accomplishing this.

The ability to recognize simple and compound shapes sets the Proto DB-32 system apart from all others.  Not only are standard tool shapes recognized and matched directly to available tools, but compound shapes (shapes within complex contours) are extracted and tools are matched accordingly.
